This is a great piece from a quantity of glamourous clothing I found at an estate sale for a woman who had been both an avid collector and entrepreneur with shops in the southwest. Most of the clothing had been stored for some time; just about everything survived well.
This such a great dress! Made entirely of satin, it features a long torso with a simple curved neckline in front, ruched sleeves, and a bodice that ends with a V. The skirt is a beautiful full circle that moves beautifully. Then....there is the back!
The back neckline is topped with a wonderful white satin bow that covers the hook closure. It is matched by a matching bow at the waistline....that frames a diamond shaped cut out to show a beautiful back! Simple in the front...dramatic in the back!
There is no label to be found unfortunately, but there a size tag (9/10), an ILGWU trademark label, and a care tag. All this tells us is that it's post mid-50's!
The bustline measures 17" lying flat, the waist 14", the hip at the bodice seam 16", 44-1/2" shoulder to skirt top and 43-1/2" from there to the hem. It's in excellent condition but I would recommend having it dry cleaned soon since it has been stored so long.
This is a great dress that obviously has a future on the dance floor, or any elegant party...the perfect vintage touch for that great personality!!
